{"id":1330,"date":"2010-10-03T08:14:56","date_gmt":"2010-10-03T07:14:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.free-from.com\/blog\/?p=1330"},"modified":"2017-05-20T11:48:26","modified_gmt":"2017-05-20T10:48:26","slug":"gluten-free-food-prescription","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.free-from.com\/blog\/gluten-free-food-prescription\/","title":{"rendered":"Gluten Free Food from the Doctor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.free-from.com\/blog\/wp-content\/prescriptions.jpg\" alt=\"prescriptions\" title=\"prescriptions\" width=\"280\" height=\"420\" align=\"right\" \/>The October 2010 list of foods that can be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.free-from.com\/prescriptions.html\">prescribed for coeliac disease<\/a> is now available, and I&#8217;ve posted it <a href=\"http:\/\/www.free-from.com\/prescriptions.html\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been a long time since the last official update, and there seem to have been lots of changes &#8211; though no change at all to the range of prescribable food that is both wheat-free and gluten-free. Some we knew about (the loss of Freebake, for example, and the gain of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geniusglutenfree.com\/\">Genius<\/a>). Some are products that we haven&#8217;t tried yet, such as BiAlimenta (available from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.drossa.co.uk\/index.php?main_page=index&#038;cPath=94\">Drossa Ltd<\/a>) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pasticely.es\/ingles\/products.php\">Pasticely<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the changes are to do with new products from well-established companies, such as Juvela; some are the loss of individual products (no more cannelloni from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.generaldietary.com\/\">Ener-G<\/a>, for example). While we obviously welcome the new products, the loss of variety is always a concern, and I wonder whose decision this is&#8230; is it the manufacturer, who decides that not enough people are requesting this product to make it financially viable, or the NHS, deciding that the product is unnecessary?<\/p>\n<p>Let me know what you think about the new list. Is there a product you&#8217;re sorry to see disappear? Or another that you&#8217;re delighted is now available on prescription? We&#8217;re really pleased to see the Juvela fresh white bread rolls available &#8211; my daughter loves these!<\/p>\n<p>And if you&#8217;ve tried any of the newer products, please tell us if you&#8217;d recommend them.
