I’ve just been introduced (via emomsathome.com<\/a> to A Readable Feast<\/a>, a fascinating collection of posts covering food and books for children. I’m interested to note that Anne-Marie’s daughter has to be egg-free – I’m glad that’s not something we have to manage. Baking must be tricky!<\/p>\n

She gives us a fabulous Julia Child recipe (not one for her daughter, though both mine would love it) for chocolate mousse<\/a>. Quick translation for us Brits: heavy cream = double cream, and instant sugar = caster sugar.<\/p>\n

And a brilliant idea for fish in a bag<\/a> (originally from a book by Rachael Ray). Quick translation: zucchini = courgettes (you knew that, didn’t you) and scallions are spring onions. My three children all eat fish, so that isn’t a problem in this house – but this looks like a fun way to cook, and they might enjoy the change. Plus, its gluten free. Just check that the sauces you might serve with the fish are also gluten free. <\/p>\n

Only snag is, where to find brown paper grocery bags here in the UK … I wonder whether the mushroom bags from the supermarkets would be strong enough? Or – and more likely – whether Lakeland<\/a> sell something that would work, like the new boil-a-bags?<\/p>\n
